Air cooler types in India

The air coolers can broadly classified based as two types.

1. Personal air coolers or room air coolers
2. Desert air coolers

Personal air cooler

• Used for cooling of small to mid-size rooms. Small and mid size rooms do not require excessive cooling. The general personal air cooler area covered specifications is suitable for small and mid size rooms.

Desert Air Cooler

• Used for cooling of medium to large size rooms. If you are looking a cooler for a hall, restaurant, big office, prayer houses then desert air cooler is the one to go for.
• Water tank capacity: 30 - 60 liters. Desert air coolers have large water tank capacity. The large water tank decreases the number of fillings. With a small water tank you need to fill the water 2 - 3 times in a day. It so may happen that water may empty at the middle of night and you have to wake up at the middle of night to refill the water tank to save yourself from high temperatures and protect the water motor from the damage. The water tanks ensures 1 - 2 refills are enough for a day. Apart from that general desert coolers have large cooling pads which consume more water to generate more cooling.
• Mostly use huge fans for cooling. To circulate the air in the big halls or rooms you need big fans with large wings and powerful motor as well.
• Little expensive: Price starts from Rs. 8,000. This is the only con of desert air coolers as they are very expensive. The price starts from Rs. 8,000 but may go even up to rs. 20,000.
