Best Inverter Battery in India, 2024

Which inverter battery is best for a home? The answer lies in, the type of battery you are using means battery manufacturing technology, brand and warranty. Lithium batteries most efficient batteries available in the market, these battery's durability is high as well as energy loss is very low. However, they lot more expensive compared to traditionally used Lead Acid batteries. Lead Acid batteries are cheap but their durability is less. Needs regular maintenance and these batteries release harmful gases. Don’t worry about these technical jargon like lead-acid, and lithium words, read further I will explain what it means in brief.

Try our inverter selector to choose right inverter by answering simple questions without reading any buying guide.

Broadly, inverter batteries divided into 2 types

  1. Lead Acid battery
    1. Flat Plate Battery
    2. Tubular Battery
  2. Lithium battery

types of battery

Lead Acid Batteries

Not going into deep, lead-acid batteries consist of lead plates/tubes(electrodes) dipped in Sulfuric Acid(electrolyte solution) and distilled water. Due to lead and acid usage, these are called Lead Acid batteries. These lead and acid chemically react while charging and storing power. During this, they generate hazardous gases, that are harmful to health. Over time distilled water dries, you have to regularly check water levels and fill the water whenever required. Lead acid batteries are categorized into flat plate and tubular variants. Discover the distinctions between them in our post "Tubular battery vs Lead acid battery" to make an informed decision about which suits your needs better.

Flat Plate Battery

Flat plate Battery

In a Flat Plate battery, in a plastic container(Outside visible plastic battery box) metal plates pasted with dry lead are dipped in sulfuric acid.

Disadvantages of flat plat battery
  • Need maintenance like filling distil water regularly
  • Releases harmful gases
  • Leaks and spilled water make hard stains on the floor
  • Short lifespan

Tubular battery

tubular Battery

Just like flat plate batteries, in plastic containers instead of flat plates, a series of tubular-shaped cloth bags, and pipes filled with lead are dipped in sulfuric acid. Also, the battery is tall in size compared to a flat plate battery. These tubular pipes make a large difference, they make the battery more efficient (less power loss), a longer life.

Disadvantages Tubular battery
  • Need maintenance like filling distill water regularly
  • Releases harmful gases
  • Leaks and spilled water make hard stains on the floor

Lithium Battery

Lithium Battery

This type of battery is made with lithium as a major component. However, there is no use of sulfuric acid or any other type of acid materials so these batteries won't release any type of harmful gases. Almost, no need for any maintenance like regular water filling, no water leakage, and no spills. But the biggest disadvantage of these batteries is cost, they are very expensive. Lithium-ion batteries come up with BMS(Battery Management System) that protects the battery from overcharge, short circuits, deep discharge and overtemperature. Normally tubular lead acid batteries cost 10,000 to 15,000 rupees, whereas lithium-ion battery costs approximately 1 lakh rupees.

loom solar inverter battery

Luminous, Loom Solar and Okaya are well-known lithium-ion battery manufacturers in India. Loom Solar provides high-quality solar panels, solar inverters and lithium batteries. Loom Solar's CAML 100Ah, 48 Volt, 5 KWh lithium battery comes with 5 years warranty, costs approximately 1 lakh rupees.

luminous lion inverter battery

Luminus Lion 1250 Sine Wave 1100/12V Inverter comes with an integrated lithium-ion battery capable of providing backup to 1 TV, 2 Fans, and 4 LED Bulbs/2 tube lights. The inverter with integrated battery comes compact and easily fits in your luxurious home aesthetics. However, the major disadvantage is it costs approximately 60,000 rupees in India, which lot more expensive compared to a Lead acid battery inverter costs 20,000 rupees.

Due to lithium battery's long life, no harmful gases, less energy loss, less space occupied and fast charging we feel that Lithium batteries are best for inverters. However, their high price is a major disadvantage.

We are predicting these Lithium inverter batteries will be the future for home inverters. Even lithium batteries can be used as Solar batteries. Traditionally Tubular batteries are used for Solar batteries, nowadays manufacturing companies are moving towards Lithium batteries as solar batteries.
