Air cooler size calculation

Make sure the air cooler is sufficient for your room size. As we have mentioned earlier personal air cooler is good for small to mid size room and desert air cooler is best for large room size. Apart from that you can check the product description of the air cooler. Look for the 'Area covered' or ‘Cooling area’ specification in the model description. There is another way to decide the same based on Air delivery or Air displacement (CFM). CFM denotes the total air in the room that's get changes in for every 2 minutes. But it usually mentioned based on hours making it more complex. While making purchase you can check the CFM as well. The formula for CFM is

CFM in hours = (room surface area in square feets * room height * 0.84)

For example, for 200 square feet home of height 8 feet, the required CFM is 200 * 8 * 0.84 = 1344.

Air coolers for high humid areas

By definition air coolers in high humid areas do not work well. If you still have air cooler in your home, try adding ice water to water tank, or put ice cubes in Ice cubes tray. Nowadays many brands saying they have “humidity control” feature. But based on our research we have not found any evidence saying how this “humid control” feature works and how effective it is.
